Turkish Folktale : Nasreddin Hodja and The Candle
Nasreddin Hodja. Have you ever heard him? I myself haven't heard about this name until last Monday during our English class..He is one of Turkish folktale's character..As I search about him through Mr.Google, I came to know that he is a real person, he lived in 13th Century Turkey in and around Aksehir in the Konya area..Here I bring you some of Nasreddin Hodja's stories since I really enjoy this kind of genre..
LETTER
An Iranian gave Hodja a letter he had received from a friend back home and asked Hodja to read it to him. Hodja looked at the letter. It was in Persian and the handwriting was terrible so he told the man "Have somebody else read it. "The man insisted. "Listen" said Hodja "I don’t know Persian. Even if it were in Turkish, the writing is so bad that I still wouldn’t be able to read it!" The Iranian got mad, "You are wearing a huge robe and a turban but can’t read even a simple letter. You should be ashamed of yourself!" Hodja took off the turban and the robe and gave them to the Iranian saying "If one can do everything by wearing a robe and a turban then here you can wear them and read the letter yourself!"
I'LL KNOW WHAT TO DO
Hodja lost his saddlebag in the town where he had stopped to spend the night. "You either find my saddlebag or I’ll know what to do" he said to the peasants in town. The peasants were alarmed and they looked for it everywhere They finally found Hodja`s saddlebag and returned it to him. Just before Hodja left the town, the peasants asked "What would you have done if we hadn’t found it?" Hodja shrugged his shoulders and said "I have an old kilim at home. I was going to cut it up and make another saddlebag with it."

BLUE BEAD
Hodja had two wives and, because they were jealous of each other they used to fight quite often. To put an end to the fighting Hodja gave each one a blue bead and said "Now don’t tell the other one that I have given you this bead which is a symbol of my love for you." One day they were fighting again. They asked Hodja whom he loved the best. He answered calmly "I love the one who has the blue bead." Each wife then thought Hodja loved her the best and they never bothered him again.

Ok, enough about the story..Now I have to finish my homework about this Hodja person..
Q : How would you describe Nasreddin Hodja? Is he intelligent? Is he a likable person? Why or Why not?
As for me, I think Nasreddin Hodja is one who likes to say big about himself even it is not true. But on the same time, I also think that he is an intelligent one among his friend that he get to think about the solution of his problem that fast..It is really impressive that a candle from hundred meters away can warm him even he didn't use anything special to warmth his self..For the second question,Is he a likable person?I don't think he is a likable person since he like to brag about his self in front of his friend..But he is good at teaching his friend a lesson for being unfair in judgement..

self-service technology
There are many type of self-service technology to help making things easier for people nowadays...As we talk about this topic, there just one thing that linger in my mind. It is a Book Drop Machine which we can see at USIM itself..The benefit of this self-service technology is it can help student to save time..We don't have to waste our time to go to library just for returning the books since this book drop machine is also available at other places besides library itself...But of course there's also disadvantages of using these machine..One of them is we will be less communicate with people since we just manage our business by dealing with a machine..And one thing that obvious when we talk about machine is there will be time when we can't use it anymore..Thursday, 1 November 2012
''What are some advantages of buying new things instead of fixing old things?"...that is the topic to be discuss for our homework...

Most of people nowadays want to be an up-to-date person..so, without doubt if their things got damage, they would buy a new one instead of fixing it..for example when a phone was fell into the water, it is better to buy a new one since they can buy a new one with more new applications and of course to be up-to-date..Moreover, if the cost to repair for the damage was almost same with the cost of buying new one....other advantages is that we cannot guarantee whether the damage will happen again or not...or it maybe will lead to other damages...besides the phone, there are also other thing that is better to buy a new one instead of fixing it like a computer, a watch and so on....So, there's no doubt that buying a new one is better than fixing the old one....

Is It Possible To Be 100% Honest In Relationship??
As for me, I think it depends on type of relation we are talking about...Ermm...as for relation between family, i think we should be honest....for example we should let them know about the problem we are facing..but there are also a few of us that don't want to tell the truth about their problem because they want to avoid their family from worrying about them....as for relation between friends, i think we also have to be honest with them..but of course every one of us have our own secret that we doesn't want anyone to know bout it right??so..as hafiz (if i'm not mistaken) said in class "we didn't lie to them, but we just didn't tell them the truth"..I totally agree with the statement...and i think it's a same goes to other relationship too..

Q and A

2. DO YOU THINK THAT SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES ARE A GOOD WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH FRIENDS? What medium do you usually use to communicate with your friend? face-to-face? telephone?or maybe through letter?? as for me, i'll use social networking sites to communicate with them..why?? because through social networking, we can share about our latest news with our friends even thought we're far away from them..we can also exchange our idea with them about anything for example our interest in world star..apart from that, we can also make a video call with them by using skype..it's pretty cool when we can have our face shown on the screen, right??so no doubt that social networking is a good way to communicate..

1. HOW DO YOU THINK THE INTERNET CAN INFLUENCE A SONG'S POPULARITY? Internet can influence a song's popularity..do you agree with the statement??as for me, I totally agree with that cause the sources of the music is from the internet itself..How??for example some people tend to upload the song on the internet so that their friend can hear to the song..other than that, internet is also a medium for people to upload the music and video..
2. DO YOU THINK IT'S TRUE THAT PEOPLE CHOOSE TO LISTEN TO THE SAME MUSIC AS THEIR PEERS? people choose to listen to the same music as their peers because they usually share the same interest with their friend..but there are also other people that doesn't like to hear to the same song with others because maybe they didn't want to be called the one who like to copy others..
